What it is
v2rayNG is the Android sibling of v2rayN. It is free, open source and published by the same developer. It reads vless:// links, shows them as a list and connects to the selected one through Android's standard VPN interface. There is no account, there are no adverts, and the app has no servers of its own. You will find it on Google Play, and as an APK on GitHub under 2dust/v2rayNG.
Five taps
Install v2rayNG from Google Play.
In Telegram, open the chat with @valideo_bot and leave the QR code on screen, or copy the link.
In v2rayNG tap the plus sign, then Import config from QRcode, or from Clipboard.
Tap the new entry so that it is highlighted.
Tap the round button and accept Android's connection request. A key icon appears in the status bar.
Settings that earn their place
- Per-app proxy: tunnel only the apps you choose, or everything except a few. It is the cure for a banking app that refuses VPNs.
- Android's Always-on VPN: Settings, Network and internet, VPN, the gear next to v2rayNG.
- Block connections without VPN, in the same place, for strict use.
- Battery: set v2rayNG to unrestricted, so that Android does not stop it overnight.
- Routing: bypass LAN keeps casting and printers working.
If you cannot use Google Play
The GitHub releases page lists several APK files. Most phones from the past several years need arm64-v8a, and the universal file works on anything. Android will ask for permission to install from your browser. Grant it for this one install and then withdraw it. Do not take an APK from a Telegram channel or from a mirror site. This app will carry all of your traffic, which makes a tampered copy especially dangerous.
Fixes
- Import fails: only part of the link was copied, or the QR code was cropped. Try again.
- It connects and nothing loads: set the date and time to automatic, then try another location.
- It drops when the screen is off: check the battery setting above.
- One app misbehaves: exclude it with Per-app proxy.
- A Wi-Fi network wants you to sign in first: disconnect, log in to the Wi-Fi, then reconnect.
Android TV and Fire TV
The same app runs on TV boxes and sticks. The awkward part is getting a long link on to a TV. Two tricks help. Install Telegram on the TV and copy the link from the bot chat. Or paste it from your phone with a remote keyboard app. After the first import the remote only ever needs to press one button. Each TV counts as one of the five devices on the key. If the TV's store does not list the app, sideload the same APK you would use on a phone, from the project's GitHub page.
Q.Is v2rayNG safe to install?
A.Yes, from Google Play or from the original GitHub repository. It is open source.
Q.Does it need root?
A.No.
Q.v2rayNG or Hiddify?
A.Hiddify is simpler. v2rayNG offers per-app control and has been around longer. Both read the same key.
Q.What does the key icon in the status bar mean?
A.A VPN connection is active. Swipe down to see which app owns it.
Q.Does it use much battery?
A.Some while data is moving, and very little when idle.
Q.Can I import the key on two phones?
A.Yes. Five devices can use one key at the same time.
