Two kinds of trial
Trial VPNs come in two kinds, and they are very different. The first asks for a card before it starts and converts into a paid plan unless you cancel. That is a delayed subscription. The second kind just stops when the time is up. Most VPNs with free trials are the first kind, and a good share of the rest are money back offers where you pay in full and claim it back later.
Ours is the second kind. Five days, no card, and then the key goes quiet.
Before you start any of the free trial VPNs
- Look for a card field. If there is one, set a calendar reminder for the day before it ends.
- Find the price after the trial. It is often not the price on the banner.
- Find the cancel button now, not on the last day.
- Check that the trial is the full product and not a slowed down version.
- Decide what you will test. The plan below is a good start.
A five day test plan
Day 1: install on your main device, connect to the nearest location, run an IP check and a DNS leak test.
Day 2: add your other devices. One key covers five.
Day 3: try the networks that gave you trouble: campus, office, hotel or mobile data.
Day 4: test the specific thing you wanted it for, at your busiest hour.
Day 5: switch locations a few times, then decide.
A word about downloads
People search VPN to download free, VPNs free download or free VPNs download and land on download portals. Skip them. A freeware VPN download from a third party site can come bundled with things you did not ask for, and VPN software is the last place to take that risk, because it handles all of your traffic. Use the official app store or the developer's own page.
Valideo has no installer to offer in the first place. You fetch a well known open source client from the store, and the only thing that comes from us is a single line of text. That also makes a fake Valideo download easy to spot: any file claiming to be our app is not ours.
Signs of a fair trial
- No payment details are requested.
- The trial includes every location and full speed.
- It ends by itself.
- Support answers during the trial, not only after you pay.
- You can repeat the setup on a second device without starting again.
Why we do it without a card
A card-first trial earns from people who forget to cancel. We would rather lose those sales. A privacy service that profits from forgetfulness has its incentives the wrong way round. If the five days convince you, you choose a term in the bot. If they do not, you close the chat and we never hear from you again, because we have no email address to chase you with.
Q.Do all trial VPNs need a card?
A.Most do. Ours does not, and neither do a few capped free tiers, which are a different thing from a trial.
Q.Is a money back guarantee a trial?
A.No. You pay first and ask for a refund later. It can be fair, but it depends on a support queue.
Q.Is a freeware VPN download safe?
A.Only from the official store or the developer's site. Portals often repackage installers.
Q.What should I test first?
A.An IP check and a DNS leak test. They take a minute and show whether the tunnel really works.
Q.Can I extend the five days?
A.No. One trial per person. A paid term continues the same key without any new setup.
Q.What if I forget about it?
A.Then nothing happens. The key stops and no charge exists to surprise you.
